MESSIAH

  • Perth Concert Hall 5 Saint Georges Terrace Perth, WA, 6000 Australia (map)

Perth Symphonic Chorus continues a 280-year-old tradition of performing G. F. Handel’s timeless oratorio, Messiah.

Handel sets music to a legendary story in the western world – the life of Jesus Christ. A Christmas tradition in Perth, Messiah always delights audiences with spectacular singing and orchestral playing.

This year, soloists Samantha Clarke, Ashlyn Tymms, Alexander Lewis and Andrew Collis join with Perth Symphonic Chorus and the Perth Baroque Orchestra led by Paul Wright in a performance conducted by James Pratt.

From its premiere in 1742, Messiah has always maintained strong connections to the community, through charitable causes and the joy of communal singing.

Part narrative, part meditation, Messiah’s chorus and vocal soloists lead us on a journey from prophecy to praise, expectation to exultation. Handel’s Messiah reflects the eternal human experience – joy, sorrow, redemption and celebration.
