Margaret Pride Scholars

This year, we have established the Margaret Pride Scholarship Fund. The Fund, which is named after the founder of the Perth Symphonic Chorus, hopes to grow to provide choral scholarships to three or four promising young WA singers each year.

Perth Symphonic Chorus has always enjoyed a positive relationship with emerging artists, benefiting from the best and brightest of WA talent, and providing them with valuable soloist development. We are proud to have been a part of the development of many shining stars of the australian and international opera stages, including Taryn Fiebig, Sara Macliver, and Lisa Harper-Brown. We hope to continue to honour this ethos, instilled by our founding director, Margaret Pride, by formally starting an avenue of supporting and providing mentorship and performance opportunities for singers in the difficult transition phase from tertiary study to professional work.

Each singer will receive a scholarship, and spend the year singing with the Chorus, with opportunities to perform solo parts in our concerts. Beyond the benefits of making beautiful music together, the Chorus and Scholars benefit alike from the intergenerational connection and having a safe, semi-professional standard rehearsal and performance space to learn in.

You can make a tax deductible donation to support the Margaret Pride Scholars, and find out more about our 2023 Scholars below!
